CHALGROVE, a parish in the hundred of EWELME, county of OXFORD, 5¾ miles (S.W.) from Tetsworth, containing, with the liberty of Rafford, 569 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £10. 5. 5., and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Baptists.
